Admin.html | Password access protects a sub-directory and the files contained within from unathorized browser access. The admin.html page is divided into three functions: |
Create a Secure Directory - |
Just enter the full server path to the directory
you wish to protect. If you were calling your protected directory "secure", the path would be: /www/UserID/secure Then enter a name for the "group" to which the authorized members will belong. Enter the name of the protected area of your web site. This name will appear in the window that will prompt the users for name/password. When you click on the "Establish Security" button, the program will write a report on the top of the this page, informing you of the actions taken. Hit your browser's BACK button to return to this page, and click on your browser'a RELOAD button to refresh. The program will have entered the newly created group name into the pull-down list box for you, available for you to enter user names and passwords.

Give Authorization - | To give a person access to your secure directory, use the "Give Authorization" section of the admin page. Select the group name from the pulldown list box (the password program will add the group names into this box when the security system is created). Then enter a user name and a user password and select the "Give Access" button. |
Remove Authorization - | To remove a person from the name/password database, use this section of the admin.html page. Select the "group" to which they belong and enter the name of the person whose access is to be denied. Select the "Remove Access" button and the person will be deleted. |
